If you're deciding where to spend an afternoon outside, here's what's documented about three options near Bloomingdale: Silas Condict County Park in Kinnelon, Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area in Montville Township and Independence Park in Riverdale.

Two of these are Morris County parks with detailed acreage and trail information on file. The third, Independence Park, has a borough page that confirms the address but not much else, so we're not going to fill in the blanks.

Silas Condict County Park, Kinnelon

Silas Condict is at 100 Kinnelon Road in Kinnelon, a nearby option northwest of Bloomingdale. It covers 1,513 acres with 10 miles of trails and a seven-acre lake. The park commission lists hiking, fishing, equestrian trails, picnic sites, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing among its activities. It's open daily from sunrise to sunset, and groups of 25 or more need a reservation and a permit.

Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area, a farther nearby option

Pyramid Mountain sits at 472 Boonton Avenue in Montville Township, farther from Bloomingdale than the other two options in this guide. It has more than 1,600 acres and more than 19 miles of rugged trails through fields, forests, rock outcroppings and wetlands. The park is known for its glacial erratics, including Bear Rock, Tripod Rock and Whale Head Rock. Trails are open sunrise to sunset, and the park's own page advises visitors to check official hours and closings before leaving.

Independence Park, Riverdale

Independence Park is at 2 Dalton Drive in Riverdale. Riverdale's official borough page confirms that address and provides field-use contact information, but it doesn't publish a full amenities list. We're not going to guess what's on site. If you need amenity details, use the borough page before you go.
